Speaking Event Featuring Kevin O’Callaghan
August 30, 2018 • Written By sfpadmin

A few years ago, we hired a lady on to our Homestead team named Jackie O’Callaghan. She was the perfect candidate. She was very qualified for the position we were seeking, and she was specifically looking for a job in the Remington area. Why? Because she drove her husband to work in Remington every morning from West Lafayette, and picked him up again in the evenings.
Allow us to explain.
You see, her husband is blind. And her husband’s name is Kevin O’Callaghan. Mike and I were intrigued! We learned that he worked at Advance Auto Parts, and not only did he work there, but he held a management position and he did his job well. We learned that he enjoys doing construction work as a hobby. We learned that he speaks at events regularly, sharing his life story and how he has overcome his incredible challenges.
So we invited Kevin to share his story with our community.
When Kevin & Jackie decided to move back to Michigan to be closer to family, Mike and I asked if we could have dinner with them before they left. While chatting with them, we were further inspired to discover more details of his life & how he has found ways to overcome such incredible challenges. Knowing that we have so much to learn from an attitude and perspective like his, we invited him to come and give an interactive presentation to our community, so we could all learn and benefit from his experiences.
His Response?
He agreed! We are so looking forward to this event, and would invite our Wolcott/Remington community (and all who would have interest), and any area businesses, to come and benefit. In addition to his presentation, the Homestead will be providing a meal right before the event, consisting of BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Baked Beans, Potato Chips, Chocolate Chip Cookie, and a drink.
